Its not my regular post but I can’t get passed the fact that today is Earth Overshoot day. It means that by August 2, 2017, we have used more from nature than our planet can renew in the whole year.
We use more ecological resources and services than nature can regenerate through overfishing, overharvesting forests, and emitting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere than forests can sequester.
So whatever we use in the upcoming 5 months will not be able to renew. This day is coming closer and closer each year as our consumption increases until we burn up the Planet below our feet.
My main goal to get accross with my blog is to be mindfull of our consumption when it comes to fashion but there are plenty of other fields that you can choose to improve and move this day to a later date. Even the smallest change can make a difference if we all do something. Ride your bike to work one day a week, give up meat for an other, only use AC when you need to etc. This website has plenty of ideas what you can do and also a calculator to measure your own footprint: http://www.overshootday.org/
What do you do to decrease your consumption?
